Her voice has taken her around the world, from the hills of the Isle of Man to opera houses, stadiums, private concerts for Madonna, British royalty, Terry Wogan, supporting Aled Jones in concert, singing opera, oratorio and folksong. Now Kate has launched her beautiful debut album of Manx Gaelic folksongs, hundreds of years old and rarely recorded, her music will transport you to a magical place.
ABOUT
Kate Dowman – Celtic and Classical soprano
Kate Dowman is a freelance soprano soloist based in London. She was born on the Isle of Man and surrounded by Celtic music and the mythical stories of the island, which forged her love of music.
Kate read music at the University of Leeds, and continued her professional Opera training in Australia with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Her incredibly versatile voice handles large lyric opera, soft Celtic folksong or pure choral works with ease. She is a vocal actress with looks and stage presence to match.
Kate is based in London and sings with many different companies, including Opera Holland Park.
Kate has recently supported Aled Jones on a Celtic tour and has given performances for Madonna in her London home, for the British Prime Minister, the Mayor of London, Goldie, Esther Rantzen, Sir Terry Wogan, at Milan Fashion week, for the Financial Times, Bulgari and Ferrari, and has toured as far as Tokyo, Bangkok, Spain, Buenos Aires, China and St. Petersburg, in venues including the Cadogan Hall, Sydney Opera House, Tate Britain, Royal Academy of Art, a ship in Antarctica and Twickenham Rugby Stadium.
Kate is the Muse of fashion designer Vjera Vilicnik, the brand ambassador for Seksy by Sekonda watches, and is resident opera singer at Selfridges in London.
Kate is in demand as an Oratorio and Operatic soloist, as guest performer at corporate events, session work and recording, and gives regular concerts of Opera, Sacred and Celtic music around the world.
The Manx gaelic folksongs she grew up singing are never far from her heart and have inspired her own writing. A shyly gifted lyricist, she writes her own material as well as singing hundreds of year's worth of other composers beautiful repertoire.

Kate's debut album - 'Whispering Tides'
14 traditional folksongs from the Isle of Man and sung in Manx Gaelic, rarely heard or recorded, create a stunning new album which will transport you to a magical place.
Kate and award winning producer Chris Craker have breathed new life into these songs and her debut album sparkles and floats like the mist on the hills and the fire of the sea God Manannan.
Now released worldwide, conjuring visions of Lord of the Rings and hints of Hans Zimmer's beautiful soundtracks, these are real songs, hundreds of years old and passed down through generations.
Recently released on 17th November 2017, the album is already causing a stir in the music industry as something beautiful and new and real.
Culture Vannin, the Isle of Man's Cultural Heritage Society has been a huge support in this project, the Isle of Man has produced some great legends, the BeeGees, the TT races, the cat with no tail, Norman Wisdom, the list goes on... but Kate is the first person to bring these beautiful songs into the 21st century. and they transport you to a world where Gods of the sea rule and the fairies dance in the glens.
